Stirling Players present this play about one of Britain’s most celebrated actresses. Nell Gwyn (1651-87), at one time an orange seller at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, became a mistress of King Charles II and bore him two sons. He was said to have requested as he lay dying “Let not poor Nelly starve”. She had a certain fame and the founding of Chelsea Hospital is said to be due to her influence.
