Theatre & More, previously Lee's Theatre Club is a social club based in Adelaide South Australia.
The primary objective of the Club is to promote theatre.
We are regular attendees at live theatre at the Arts Theatre, St Jude's, Stirling Theatre, Star Theatres and the Shedley Theatre. Also we regularly dine out and attend shows at other venues and engage in different outings of interest to our members.
A quarterly theatre news offers members a choice of at least one outing most weeks of the year. Pre-theatre dinners are optional.
We have a very active committee who are undertaking the modernisation of the Club.
It was decided a change of name was warranted to indicate our future thinking so in July 2015 we became Adelaide Theatre and More Social Club Inc.
Our office is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday with hours between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm with messages being taken during the remainder of the week.
A Brief History
In August 1969 the inaugural meeting of Lee's Theatre Club, convened by Pat Lee, was held at the Art's Theatre with an attendance of some 300 people.
Its aims were:
1. To foster the arts
2. To provide members the opportunity of attending theatre and films at concession rates
3. To promote socialising through regular dinners and other outings.
In 1973, a large residence at 307 Young Street, Wayville was purchased to provide the Club with a permanent home, the scene of many and varied activities. The property became mortgage-free through extensive fundraising. Many renovations were made to this beautiful building.
Over the years the circumstances of the Club changed. After many years dedicated to the club, Pat Lee died in 2011.
Eventually Young Street was sold and the Club moved to serviced offices at Netley.
